TheHuman Tissue Authority’s (HTA’s) primary goal is to protect public andprofessional confidence in the safe and ethical use of human tissue.
We arethe national independent regulator for organisations that remove, store and usetissue for research, medical treatment, post-mortem examination, teaching andpublic display. We also approve organ and bone marrow donations from livingpeople. With the interests of the public and those we regulate at the centre ofour work, we aim to maintain confidence by ensuring that human tissue is usedsafely and ethically, with proper consent.

An opportunity has arisen for a highly motivatedindividual with regulatory experience, or experience in the fields of tissuebanking, organ donation and transplantation or working with human tissuesamples in a research setting, to join the HTA as a Regulation Manager (RM).
The RM role is varied and involves leading on regulatoryassessments and site visit inspections, as well as providing clear, evidence-basedadvice and guidance to colleagues and external stakeholders. The role holderwill be expected to contribute to the development, implementation and deliveryof robust systems and processes for licensing, inspections, regulatoryassessments, investigations, incident review and enforcement, as well as to supportwider organisational change initiatives.
The successful candidate will have opportunities tobe involved in operational policy work, to represent the HTA in variousdifferent settings, and to work closely with colleagues from across theorganisation, including senior management.

. Strong analytical skills – the ability to review and analyse large quantities of complex information, from a variety of sources and in various forms, to identify key issues and to assess risks.
. Excellent oral and written communication skills – the ability to write clearly and persuasively in plain English, adapting style to be suitable for the audience.
. The ability to confidently and competently interact with a wide range of stakeholders virtually and face-to-face, particularly but not exclusively in the professional community, representing the organisation with an authoritative voice.
. The ability to work effectively under pressure and to respond constructively, and when appropriate firmly, in dealing with challenge and disagreement.
. The ability to forward plan work – able to prioritise and to be sufficiently flexible to re-prioritise as circumstances change and in accordance with organisational need.
. The ability to work effectively, independently and constructively as well as in a supportive fashion when working as part of a team.
The following are considered desirable criteria for the role:
. Relevant post-graduate qualifications – we welcome applicants who have successfully obtained a PhD in a relevant subject area.
. Experience of working in one of the following sectors regulated by HTA: Human Application (HA), Organ Donation and Transplantation (ODT), or Research.
. Appropriate alternative professional experience – for example, experience in a relevant industry, healthcare institution or other regulatory body.
