About Us

This is an exciting opportunity to support the development and delivery of the Wellcome Discovery Award “What can bureaucratic justice do for mental health?”, based in the Dickson Poon School of Law within King’s College London. This will involve working with colleagues and across projects within the Administrative Fairness Lab research group.
 
The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London is one of the oldest law schools in England and recognised globally as one of the best law schools in the world. The School was established in 1831 and has played an integral role in the life of King’s since the university was formed almost 200 years ago.
 
The Administrative Fairness Lab, directed by Professor Joe Tomlinson, is a multisite research group combining law and social science to advance understanding of administrative justice. It brings together interdisciplinary project teams to meet research challenges, and collaborate with the public, government bodies, and charities. The 6-year Wellcome Discovery Award programme, also led by Professor Joe Tomlinson, specially seeks to build a new body of research exploring the meaning and effects of bureaucratic justice in mental health services. It will also develop a diverse community of researchers and people with lived experience committed to advancing understanding of bureaucratic justice and its effects in the context of mental health services, and provide a platform for a new way of thinking about administrative process in mental health services and interventions that to improve treatment outcomes.

About the role

The Project Manager will provide overall operational management for projects, and ensure resources are managed and monitored effectively. They will provide administrative support to ensure the smooth running of projects.  The post holder will work closely with the Lab Director and Principal Investigator, Professor Joe Tomlinson, as well as a range of partners, to develop and evaluate project activities and will support the project team in delivering the project objectives.
 
The role will require coordination across University Departments and with external UK partners. You will work with a variety of key stakeholders including academic collaborators, external funding partners and other university staff.
 
The focus of the role is on delivering the operational activities linked to the research objectives of each project, as well as helping to develop and sustain future research programmes. The role requires wide-ranging project co-ordination for the projects. You will work under the direction of Prof. Joe Tomlinson but will be required to work independently and will need to relate well to both academic staff at all levels, and non-academic stakeholders across the project – including members of the public participating in the Lab’s work, and external stakeholders in the public and private sectors. You will need to navigate governance issues and understand appropriate research funding arrangements.
 
This is a part time role (17.5 hours per week) and you will be offered a fixed term contract until 31st December 2031.
