Highway and Transport Services – Enhancing Lives, Building Communities

Our Highways Asset Management team is offering an exciting opportunity for someone ready to begin a meaningful career in civil engineering and help keep Wiltshire’s roads safe, efficient, and well-managed.

We are recruiting for a Civil Engineering Apprenticeship, which may be offered at Level 3 or Level 6 depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience. The appropriate level will be determined during the selection process.

This apprenticeship allows you to earn while you learn, contributing to real projects that improve the condition and safety of over 3,000 miles of roads across Wiltshire.

You will help manage data, support delivery of Traffic Engineering schemes, contribute to decisions that deliver value for money and public benefit, and start a fantastic career in Civil Engineering.

Wiltshire Council’s apprentice programme is aligned with the Institution of Civil Engineering, offering the opportunity to gain professional recognition within the industry. Throughout the process you will be supported by colleagues who have completed or are on the same path, and guided by a dedicated mentor. Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will be offered a permanent role as a Highways Asset Management Engineer with the potential for continued growth and progression.

While not essential, the ability to drive is desirable, as the role involves travel around the county.

To be eligible, you must be aged 16 or over, living in England and not in full-time education. We are looking for someone with good communication skills, attention to detail, a positive attitude, confidence using IT, and the ability to manage time effectively.
