Due to sustained growth, we are currently looking for a External Account Manager – Aggregates to join our team in Tarmac Stancombe office, Flax Bourton near Bristol. The responsibilities of this role come with the opportunity of travelling for weekly visits to our units and customers across the South West and Wales, with a company car offered.
This is a flexible role that requires a balance between office working and customer visits. It is a key position to driving business growth, managing pricing strategies, and ensuring the successful delivery of surface dressing and aggregate solutions projects. This role is commutable from Long Ashton, Nailsea, Portbury, Portishead, Wrington, Langford, Yatton, Bristol and the surrounding areas.
In the role of External Account Manager – Aggregates you will be working 40 hours per week Monday to Friday. Following successful completion of training you will have the option for hybrid working.

The role of External Account Manager – Aggregates will be responsible for leading the development of the strategic plan to maximise the benefits of our various product reserves. As External Account Manager – Aggregates, you will also be responsible for:

Delivering annual budgeted volumes, pricing and margin

Lead the pricing strategy for surface dressing and aggregate solutions, securing profitable new work and driving growth across the business

Developing and maintaining regional sales pipeline to drive performance

Negotiating alongside Procurement with key third party hauliers, haulage companies

Directly managing, engaging and developing a predetermined portfolio of Tarmac customer accounts aligned to the commercial strategy

Plan and manage logistics effectively, including the scheduling of trucks for surface dressing deliveries, as well as communicating weekly & monthly sales forecasts to our operations department

Forging new relationships with key influencers to gather market and commercial intelligence and feeding that information into the Sales Pipeline management process

Cost effective distribution of materials using local systems

Work closely with internal teams, including operations, logistics, and sales, to ensure smooth project delivery and customer satisfaction

Ensuring customer service expectations are met and developing an ethos of service excellence
The ideal candidate for the role of External Account Manager – Aggregates will have proven sales experience gained in either surface dressing, aggregate sales, or a related construction industry role.
In addition to proven sales capability suitable candidates will also demonstrate:

Successful sales track record with the ability to build relationships and trust through providing solutions that meet the customer needs

Proven ability to gain commitment and successfully close customer deals

Effective conflict resolution skills – handling all situations effectively to achieve a positive outcome

Account management experience including tracking and developing a portfolio of accounts, forging working relationships with customers and being the ‘go to person’ for your own customers

Excellent project planning and logistical skills, particularly around scheduling and managing truck fleets for surface dressing.

Proven negotiating skills with effective use of questioning and listening to effectively establish customer need.

Confidence to influence and persuade key stakeholders and customers

Flexible attitude to task management and the ability to work autonomously

Proven ability to prioritise, plan and monitor own activity
