Do you enjoy interpreting crime data and turning that into meaningful information that can improve the accountability of the Police to the public?
An exciting 6-month secondment opportunity has arisen to join the MOPAC Evidence & Insight team. This is a dedicated in-house analysis and social research team, comprising experienced analysts and researchers who conduct analytics on crime, criminal justice and policing for London.
We are looking for an analyst with Power BI experience to work within the Performance and Oversight unit of the Evidence & Insight team whilst we integrate, implement and rollout Power BI across the organisation.
In this capacity, you will convert complex datasets into user-friendly dashboards and reports to support business decision-making. You will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to understand their data requirements and provide solutions that address them. The role holder will be expected to have proficiency in Power BI development, including experience in building and embedding Power BI reports and dashboards, as well as expertise in DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
This position is for 6 months.

Application Process
Candidates are required to submit their CV and employment history (more information below), and answer the supplementary questions, which are:
- Please outline your experience with Power BI, including the features you are most familiar with?
- Describe a complex Power BI project you’ve worked on, and describe the steps you took from design to development.

How do you approach collaboration with stakeholders to gather requirements for an analytical project or dashboard? Please provide an example.

Political Restriction
Political Restriction: under the Local Government and Housing Act 1989 (as amended by the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011), all MOPAC staff members will be politically restricted without the right to apply for an exemption.
Security Vetting Clearance
The successful candidates will be expected to undergo the necessary security vetting, which may take around eight weeks to complete. Applicants must possess the legal right to work in the UK and have resided in the UK continuously for at least the last three years.

Where are we based?
We have moved to a hybrid working model with office hubs at Union Street (near London Bridge) and Newlands Park (postcode SE26). On average, staff will work 1-2 days a week from an Office Hub, which may differ depending on the role requirements.
