What you’ll be doing
Purpose of the Job
- Implement procurement processes to ensure cost savings, efficiency, and best practices.
- Perform and /or set best practice for sourcing, liaising, and negotiating with new and existing suppliers to achieve best commercial terms for the division, including but not limited to negotiation of supplier contracts, running and analysing tenders and onboarding new suppliers.
- Develop robust supplier management oversight and governance to track the performance of suppliers against Group policies, service levels and commercial terms.
Context
The Procurement Analyst plays a key role in the Operations team within Education and in conjunction with the Hachette Group. The role oversees and manages the organisation’s procurement needs by researching new suppliers, analysing industry developments, and assisting with the creation and on-going improvement of sourcing strategies as well as monitoring supplier performance. You’ll take a proactive role, working with Production, Content, Programme Management Office, and Digital teams to procure effectively. You’ll use data analysis to support and drive decision-making and optimise our governance around supplier management.
Need to do
- Work with subject matter experts across the business to research, evaluate and compare supplier services to determine which best meets the organisation’s needs
- Prepare proposals, request quotes, and negotiate purchase terms and conditions
- Prepare and issue agreements
- Set standards and KPIs to monitor supplier performance and resolve issues and concerns
- Report on supplier performance and assist with remedial actions
- Identify and mitigate any procurement-related risk by checking if suppliers meet the company’s social and ethical responsibility standards

Need to know
- How publishing works in terms of physical and digital products and the type of suppliers and services that are required
- How to manage publishing systems to maintain data integrity, quality product info and accurate purchase orders to suppliers and vendors
- How to build understanding of the diverse business products, including market models and procurement strategies
- How to manipulate and summarise large data sets
- How to write reports, proposals and presentations in a concise manner that delivers incisive analysis and recommendations to non-specialists
- How to prioritise competing requirements against business-critical deadlines by multi-tasking and careful stakeholder management
Experience
- Proven experience as a procurement analyst or similar role is required
- Good working knowledge of purchasing strategies
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Systems experience of publishing systems such as Biblio3, and experience of using a data warehouse, such as Cognos / Extent, Power BI would be beneficial

The role will be based at our London office, Carmelite House, with a blend of in-office (3 days) and homeworking (2 days) per week.

Salary:
ÂŁ38,000 – ÂŁ40,000, dependent on experience (+ bonus +benefits)
