Salary: Up to £43,000
Location: Woodchester, Gloucestershire (GL5 5EY) or Miskin, South Wales (CF72 8XY)
 

An exciting opportunity to has arisen in the Purchasing Department to join us as a Senior Buyer due to an internal promotion. We are looking for commercially savvy, enthusiastic and driven Strategic buyers to deliver a diverse portfolio of commodities on time, to the highest quality and best value, whilst also considering risk, compliance and sustainability.

As part of the Group Manufacturing Services Division (GMSD) the Procurement Department identifies and manages the procurement of direct & indirect parts and services contributing to the full manufacturing service of our proprietary products. This is a growing global function with new and exciting requirements and challenges.

The candidate will be part of a team in a fast-paced environment primarily based at either our Gloucestershire & Miskin sites with opportunities to be involved in a wide range of products, commodities and suppliers from around the world.
 

The successful candidate will have options for hybrid working, predominantly working 3 days in the office and 2 days from home per week. We also have a variable working pattern in place, where you can work a 4.5-day week and have a half day on a Friday.
 

Responsibilities

  • Liaison with customers and stakeholders at all levels, developing a service with strategies to ensure that excellent service levels are maintained, and production requirements and timescales are met

  • The implementation of efficient supply chain communication and logistics solutions to ensure total acquisition costs are minimised

  • Commercially focused negotiation with suppliers to ensure cost management targets are realised

  • Responsible for the implementation and management of Supplier Contracts

  • Identifying and delivering cost reduction opportunities whilst ensuring the Purchasing Team are negotiating terms and conditions to achieve best price and quality

  • Identifying risks and providing support to implement solutions to manage risks

  • Control of stock and planning parameters within an ERP environment, ensuring minimum stock levels are managed consistent with risk analysis

  • Liaison both internally and externally to support resolution of quality related issues and problems.

  • Development of the sourcing strategies to ensure they align with the technical and commercial needs of the business.
     

Requirements

  • Experience of Purchasing direct materials in a fast paced, innovative, manufacturing environment

  • Full driving licence

  • Able to demonstrate a successful track record in negotiation with suppliers to meet organisational targets

  • In depth understanding of the various approaches and strategies to commodity purchasing, working in line with functional requirements to meet departmental objectives and KRAs

  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels both internally and externally will be required for this role

  • An understanding of component manufacturing processes, life-cycles and supply chain tiers/locations

  • An awareness of MRP/ERP and Stock Control processes. Although training will be provided to the right candidate

  • Able to demonstrate proficient IT skills (Microsoft Office etc.)

  • CIPS qualification or relevant STEM/Business Degree would be advantageous, but not essential
