Academic Skills Consultant (EAP) – SalfordĀ 

The opportunity

The University of Salford is seeking to recruit Academic Skills Consultants (English for Academic Purposes) who will work collaboratively to deliver excellent, inclusive English for Academic Purposes provision as part of an integrated academic support offer that makes a real difference to our students.

Are you a skilled language teacher with experience in English for Academic Purposes? Do you have the ability to help students develop the language and learning skills, confidence and self-efficacy they need to succeed at university? Are you also great at communicating and working with people? And do you have a highly motivated, proactive approach, always looking to improve how things are done? Then this role could be for you.

3 full-time posts are available. Part-time/job-share applications will be considered.

Responsibilities and skills

As Academic Skills Consultant (EAP), you will bring your passion and experience to the design, delivery, continuous improvement and evaluation of the University’s English for Academic Purposes offer for international students. Working as part of a team, engaging with students and colleagues across the University, you will develop high-impact teaching, support and online/blended learning resources, embracing active learning methods and digital technologies. You will play a key role in managing relationships with academic and professional services colleagues, representing the service across the University and beyond. You’ll ensure everything you do is inclusive and supports the many and diverse needs of our students.

You will have expertise in teaching and assessing language learners, as well as the skills to enable students to develop wider academic skills, personal effectiveness and confidence. An engaging communicator with a collaborative approach, you will always be looking to build positive relationships with a diverse range of people. You will embrace the fast-moving pace of higher education, constantly seeking out new and better ways of doing things in the interests of the University and our students.Ā
