Job overview

Rosewood is a registered care home with nursing services, accommodating up to eight individuals with learning disabilities and associated profound physical and health needs. The home is registered to perform two regulated activities:

1. Providing accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care.

2. Treating disease, disorder, or injury.

Rosewood is a spacious, purpose-built bungalow featuring eight large single rooms. These rooms are designed to cater to both male and female adults and include overhead tracking systems. Some rooms are also equipped with epilepsy monitoring systems, enabling us to meet the complex needs of each resident.

Our dedicated staff team comprises both nursing care professionals and support workers. They are committed to helping residents engage in active lifestyles that support their personal aspirations and life dreams.

Main duties of the job

To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of person-centred care and to be responsible for the supervision of junior staff and students. To take a greater leadership role in the home in the absence of the manager/ other senior staff.

The post holder would be expected to participate in forthcoming/future staff rotation schemes and work flexibly to meet the needs of the home.  If the post holder is newly qualified, they will be offered a comprehensive preceptorship package.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

  • Act as Shift Leader, keyworker, and delegate responsibilities to colleagues in line with people’s needs and preferences, ensuring the shift planner is updated accordingly.
  • Support people with their medication, Administration, ordering, and stock checking.
  • Assist individuals with eating and drinking.
  • Support personal hygiene needs and all aspects of personal care, such as bathing/ showering and support with continence needs.
  • Support physical care needs which may be due to a range of acute or chronic difficulties and includes manual handling using equipment provided.
  • Contribute to, monitor and record, health checks, risk assessments and care plans, using physical records and/or digital tools (depending on registered home).
  • Promote and respond to the choices and preferences of the people we support, as detailed in person-centered plans.
  • Support an active and enjoyable lifestyle of individuals, by encouraging a range of leisure and social interests. Support on holidays, as identified in their person-centered plans.
  • Support individuals to maintain and extend their family connections, friendships, and social networks.
  • Where appropriate, actively support individuals to pursue paid/unpaid work and educational opportunities.

To provide person centered support as identified within the care plan ensuring respect, privacy and dignity always.

Qualifications

Essential criteria
  • NMC registration as RNLD, RMN , OR RG
  • If Successful Willing to complete Nightingale Challenge Leadership Programme.

Experience

Essential criteria
  • Experience of working with people with a learning disability and Autism.
  • Experience of working as part of a team
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of leading a shift
