Job Purpose: 

  • Research and Database query to create data-driven facts and stats-inspired stories around soccer, cricket, rugby and tennis. 
  • Data-led content creation as part of a team that deliver sports insights and reports to media clients, brands, and governing bodies. 
  • Live data editorial helpdesk support for major sports events taking place throughout the year globally (both on site and remotely).
  • Content creation as part of a team that produce social media content. 
  • Sales support to approach potential clients and prospects and develop a data editorial market across multiple markets.

WHAT’S YOUR NEW ROLE ABOUT

As part of their global business development, Stats Perform have partnered with major sports governances and media outlets as their official data provider. We are looking for a passionate multi-sports expert to join our Data Insights team. The successful Data Editor will have an extensive sports knowledge and the ability to editorialise sports-data and generate data-driven facts and stories. Working in a fast-paced environment, a Data Editor will be at the forefront of content creation for our main partners – including Football Australia, Cricket Australia and Tennis Australia, as well as a variety of media clients across the globe in an ever-changing marketplace. As a Data Editor, you will source, analyse, produce, and distribute data-led content to broadcasters, digital and social media platforms, brands and governing bodies to enhance their tennis coverage. The role will be determined by the sports schedule and therefore will require mandatory weekend and evening work on a flexible shift pattern. Core production tasks will also involve domestic and overseas travelling. The successful candidate can work in office from our Sydney location, with the flexibility of working remotely from any location in Australia. 
DO YOU HAVE THESE ESSENTIALS
  • Broad knowledge and keen interest in soccer, rugby, cricket and tennis 
  • Ability to produce data-focussed editorial content and reports to a high standard. 
  • Understanding of how raw data can be turned into compelling insights, engaging stories and sharable content. 
  • Deep knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Excel) is essential. 
  • Willingness to fit the needs of the tennis schedule, working “shift based” role, featuring weekends and night work. Must also be flexible to adapt to the changing demands of the role as part of a global Organisation. 
  • Ability to work under the pressure of a live media setting to meet tight deadlines in a highly pressurised environment.
  • Creativity and ability to support development of new ideas and shape innovative data-led formats. 
  • Fluent in written and spoken English. 

DO YOU HAVE THESE DESIRABLES

  • Knowledge of at least another language, and ability to translate multi-language. 
  • Team player, but equally able to take individual initiative and work independently.
  • Excellent time-management and organisational skills. 
  • Understanding of multi-platform new technologies and social media.
