Main duties and responsibilities
De Montfort University (DMU) is seeking an experienced and highly organised Training and Development Supervisor to oversee staff training, process improvement and provide expert guidance across our student record systems and processes. As part of this role, you will:

- Enhance your training and development skills through exposure to varied training methods, digital tools and cross-departmental projects
This role provides the opportunity to get hands-on with operational work while also influencing long-term improvements in processes, systems and staff capability. Initially, you will spend time getting to know our internal processes, building a strong understanding of how systems work in practice and supporting teams with day-to-day tasks. This grounding will enable you to design and deliver high-quality, practical training that makes a real difference. Working collaboratively across academic and professional services teams, you will help to improve technical skills, student data quality, process optimisation and robust data management. As Training and Development Supervisor, you will have a unique opportunity to influence cross-team processes, ensuring they meet evolving regulations and the diverse needs of our stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Leading on the development, maintenance and quality assurance of training resources, promoting consistent ways of working and processes across all faculties and partner institutions.
- Supporting teams with operational activity to develop a deep understanding of business processes and challenges.
- Driving continuous improvement across systems and processes, making practical recommendations that streamline work and strengthen data quality.
- Providing training plans and advice to individuals and managers, recommending best practices for records management, data management and quality assurance.
- Helping to support with technical expertise around the setup and maintenance of programme and course data in our systems, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and efficient data processing.
Ideal Candidate:
To excel in this role, you will bring a proven track record in designing and delivering effective training, alongside strong stakeholder engagement skills. You will be confident working in a complex organisation, developing partnerships that help you understand training needs and deliver tailored solutions. You will be comfortable with supporting operational work, using that experience to shape meaningful training and identify opportunities for process improvement. Experience with digital learning tools (e.g., e-learning modules, webinars, online help systems, manuals and support documentation) will be highly valuable, as will confidence with classroom instruction, virtual training, and on-the-job coaching. Your ability to evaluate training effectiveness and use feedback to continuously improve delivery will be key. Most importantly, you’ll be proactive, collaborative and motivated by improving processes, data quality and user experience.
