Our Internship Overview 

The Amplify U Internship is a structured, 12-month paid programme open to individuals aged 18 and over who demonstrate a strong interest in a career in the music industry. Interns are placed within specific departments and will gain meaningful, hands-on experience while developing professionally and personally through curated development sessions, projects and network-building opportunities. 

 

The Role 

As an Amplify U Intern, you’ll contribute to live business initiatives, learn directly from industry professionals and grow through tailored development. You’ll be immersed in the day-to-day of your department, gaining valuable skills and making a tangible impact. 

 

Few labels can boast as long, prestigious and varied a musical history as Polydor. From the ’60s ‘beat boom’ onwards, through the eras of progressive rock, disco and punk, the label has been at the vanguard of every significant musical development. Today the likes of Billie Eilish, Kendrick Lamar, Glass Animals, Sam Fender, Lana Del Rey, Celeste, Haim, Mura Masa and Olivia Rodrigo maintain Polydor’s enviable cutting-edge reputation.  

 

The A&R Admin Intern will sit in the heart of the busy A&R team and work across multiple artists and their campaigns. They will support the artist’s recordings and releases as well as the creative and administrative A&R teams. 

 

What you’ll learn: 

 

Be Administrative 

  • Management of audio files – receipt, distribution, filing and ensuring security  

  • Collate, input, obtain approvals and monitor status of label copy credits for both physical and digital releases  

  • Assist A&R team in product initiation and product workflow  

  • Ensure all newly created digital masters and assets are archived  

  • Assist with quality control measures, such as test pressings and artwork sign offs  

  • Collate, place and distribute product orders for the team and manage stock  

  • Schedule weekly A&R team meeting and circulate agenda/minutes  

  • Book couriers and travel for artists and team as required 

  • Sourcing and booking recording studios, engineers, and equipment hire.  

  • Booking and administrating mastering and “dolby atmos” sessions.  

  • Managing all remixes admin: Issuing Remix agreements, making payments and running an XL sheet record  

 

Be Collaborative 

  • Liaise with the archive team for audio and audio-visual asset reports  

  • Schedule and coordinate key department meetings that are fundamental to the sharing of information between the A&R team and other Polydor departments  

  • Help to research and implement new and emerging digital initiatives  

  • Liaise with licensing and legal team to monitor progress of releases  

  • Assist in researching new ideas, projects and asset availability  

  • Assist in researching new artists  

  • Support cross-label project teams as required 

  • Attend scheduling meetings and assist with updates between the A&R and Production teams, proactively and reactively  

  • Assist with streaming analysis and playlist suggestions  

  • Taking on miscellaneous tasks as required by department heads and personnel  

 

Be Financial 

  • Assist suppliers with set up on the Uniport payment system  

  • Process Uniport invoices for recording costs eg travel, studio hire, mastering and staff costs eg Addison Lee cars  

  • Add funds to budgets as required for select costs and payments under direction

Who you are: 

 

Necessary 

  • Passionate about music   

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced office environment   

  • Knowledgeable about record label structure, function and purpose  

  • Great attention to detail   

  • The ability to learn quickly and be proactive as well as reactive  

  • Highly organised with the ability to keep calm under pressure  

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills  

  • Flexible and able to prioritise own workload  

  • Self-motivated, hardworking, and enthusiastic  

  • A desire to progress in the music industry  

  • Great computer skills i.e., Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word   

  • A specific interest to work within A&R administration/project management  

  • Experience working in music (personal or professional) ideally within a studio environment or small record label / imprint  

  • Adaptable and able to take initiative  

 

Desirable  

  • Familiar with R2, Studio Hub & Uniport (or similar)  

  • Familiar with audio files formats – WAVs, MP3s etc.  

  • Interest in new artists, producers and writers and undiscovered talent 

  • Knowledge and experience of the recording process
