About the role
Applications are invited for a Research Associate position in the Department of Mathematics at Imperial College London, funded by a Simons Collaboration Grant on “Moduli of Varieties”.
What you would be doing
The successful candidate will work closely with Prof. Paolo Cascini and the algebraic geometry group at Imperial College on some aspects of the Simons Collaboration Grant on “Moduli of Varieties”.
This position is well-suited for candidates with expertise in one or more of the following areas: birational geometry, foliation theory.

The essential requirements for this post are as follows:
- A PhD or equivalent level of professional qualifications and/or experience in algebraic geometry or closely related fields
- Clear evidence of outstanding promise and originality in research, with a good publication record, commensurate with career stage
- Ability to carry out original research and to produce published research papers
- Ability to identify, develop, and implement new concepts, techniques, and methods
- Ability to organise own work independently
- Ability to prioritise own work in response to deadlines
- Ability to work with others, especially postdocs and graduate students

Further information
The position is fixed term for 24 months. The expected start date is 1 September 2026.
*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range, £43,863 – £47,223 per annum.
