Resourcing Officer
Location: Carlisle or Crewe
Reporting to: National Resourcing and Control Manager
About the role
We are looking for a Resourcing Officer to join our Rail Division, playing a key role in ensuring the safe, reliable and compliant delivery of train crew rostering and planning.
As part of the Resourcing team, you’ll create and manage traincrew rosters, diagrams and daily plans to meet operational, commercial and customer requirements. This is a fast-paced and detail-oriented role where you’ll work closely with Operations, Traincrew and wider stakeholders to optimise efficiency, maintain compliance and support business performance.
What you’ll be doing
- Creating, issuing and managing traincrew rosters, diagrams and daily sheets
- Ensuring rosters and plans are safe, compliant and aligned to customer and business requirements
- Managing changes to rosters, including reallocating work for disruptions, training, leave and unplanned demand
- Producing and maintaining accurate WTT and short-term traincrew diagrams
- Ensuring full compliance with company terms, industry standards and regulatory requirements
- Monitoring and reporting performance against key KPIs (e.g. sickness, leave, costs and utilisation)
- Managing traincrew annual leave in line with agreed terms and conditions
- Supporting the implementation of roster and link changes
- Liaising with Traincrew and Operations teams to optimise rostering efficiency
- Identifying improvements to rosters, diagrams and planning processes
- Ensuring timely issue of weekly rosters to support the delivery of the train plan
- Supporting cost optimisation, including minimising rest day working where possible
- Providing resourcing input to business development, commercial and contract activities
- Supporting apprentices and contributing to team development
- Building strong working relationships across internal teams and stakeholders

Who we’re looking for
Experience
- Experience in rostering, planning, operations or a similar coordination role
- Experience working in a fast-paced, operational or logistics environment
- Experience engaging with multiple stakeholders to deliver operational outcomes
Knowledge
- Understanding of rostering, scheduling or operational planning processes
- Awareness of compliance requirements within a regulated or safety-critical industry
- Knowledge of rail operations or transport/logistics environments (desirable)
