The Wales Cancer Biobank (WCB), based in the Division of Cancer and Genetics in Cardiff University, is looking to recruit a full time (35 hours per week) Research Assistant.  The postholder will liaise with researchers applying to use the biosample resource and assist with the management of research applications to ensure robust project tracking is maintained. The postholder will also be required to undertake data collection and data entry duties, extracting relevant medical information from clinical electronic systems and executing queries to match sample requests to inventory.

The post will also involve talking to cancer patients to gain their consent for the WCB to access and store biosamples for cancer related research.   This will require the postholder to work with patients and a variety of healthcare professionals, laboratory staff and cancer researchers meaning excellent interpersonal and team working skills will be vital.  The postholder must be able to work on their own initiative and unsupervised to deadlines and be proficient at planning and organising their own workload.  More information on the Wales Cancer Biobank can be found on the website at www.walescancerbank.com.
