Job Purpose:

The post holder is responsible for payment of prisoner wages, daily reconciliation of Prisoner Personal Cash (PPC), administration and distribution of the Prisoner purchasing facility (such as local purchases, bag & tag fruit).  There are also diverse other tasks required of the post holder ranging from General Officer duties, to work on (Unify) Prisoner Phone systems and an expectation to cover other Finance & Admin roles during times of staff absence.

Responsibilities:

Conduct the effective sourcing, purchasing and receipt of all stock into the Prisoner purchasing facility.  This includes all aspects of sundry and local purchase from various suppliers/partners.

Post holder is required to draw together a weekly wage spreadsheet to enable payment of earnings to prisoner population, incorporating data from (PR2) prisoner records system and Business Objects.

Responsible for uploading daily Prisoner Personal Cash (PPC) deposits, ensuring these reconcile with physical cash received, and for ensuring compliance with relevant Prisoner Personal Cash (PPC) guidelines.

Required to handle confidential information and follow correct administrative protocols and procedures.

Carry out canteen duties in the event of staff absence, this involves some manual handling.

Qualifications Requirements

A minimum of five National 5 (or equivalent) qualifications, including English and Mathematics or relevant experience gained in a similar role and/or environment.

Competent in the use of Microsoft Office packages including Word, Excel and Outlook.

Previous experience of working in a finance/procurement function.  Excellent numeracy skills and ability to analyse, interpret and report on a range of information.

Well-developed communication skills at all organisational levels, both written and verbal and the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.

Ability to effectively prioritise workload to meet departmental and organisational deadlines and the ability to work individually and a part of a team.
