Main duties and responsibilities
Role
This 18 month fixed term project funded via the Innovate UK Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) programme enables Swipe & Tap Limited to bring in new skills and academic thinking to deliver a strategic innovation project. The KTP associate leads the project with support from the university and business teams. Applying academic knowledge to a real-world challenge, a KTP is a chance to deliver impact and shape your career. There is a development budget which allows you to further enhance your personal and professional development.
Based at Swipe and Tap Limited, Leicester https://swipeandtap.co.uk/ with occasional visits to DMU the associate will develop a bespoke secure-by-design software solution that enables continuous and affordable security validation of web, mobile and API services.
The role requires the Associate to be based in the business, remote working is not an option.
Key Responsibilities
- Work collegiately to design and build a robust, scalable security validation capability that supports continuous testing across web, mobile and API applications.
- Ensure the usability, robustness and security of the developed solution.
- Remain aware of relevant current technological advancements
- Produce high standard periodic progress reports, deliver presentations as required and disseminate findings and project outputs in peer reviewed 3*/4* academic publications.
- Define and maintain data management plan, project plan, and risk register.
- Upskill relevant staff and embed technical knowledge.
- Contribute to meetings and scholarly dissemination linked to the KTP.
- Create technical manuals, periodic project progress reports, and final project report.
Ideal candidate
We are seeking a motivated and talented graduate with a Bachelor’s degree at 2:1 or higher in Software Engineering, Cyber Security, Computer Science, or a closely related discipline. A higher degree, such as an MSc or PhD, in a relevant field, or equivalent industrial experience, would be advantageous.
The successful candidate will have:
- A minimum of one year of relevant industrial experience.
- Proficient knowledge of one or more programming languages, for example C++, Python or Java.
- Strong knowledge of continuous integration and continuous delivery/deployment pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of secure software development practices.
- Wide experience with code review, debugging, QA, test automation tools and frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of application security testing, including IAST, SAST and DAST.
- Good knowledge of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence algorithms.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication, presentation and report-writing skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to learn new skills and develop original techniques, algorithms and methods.

Interviews will be over two stages, an initial phone screening to check eligibility and right to work followed by an in person panel interview which will include a task.
