Assistant Maintenance Fitter (CC13015) – Bath, BA2 7AY

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Assistant Maintenance Fitter to join the Campus Infrastructure team at the University of Bath.

The role is to support the mechanical fitters to undertake planned and reactive maintenance.

The primary focus is on industrial and commercial equipment such as air handling units, supply and extract systems and the refurbishment of large pumps and motors.  The work will also include repair tasks across the range of plumbing building services to include hot and cold-water systems, sanitary ware, internal plumbing and drainage services across the University estate.

We would like to hear from you if you:

  • have a knowledge of fabrication and basic machining
  • are familiar with and happy to work in the built environment, able to identify and remedy a variety of maintenance tasks and keep all affected informed of the situation
  • have a flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake training to improve knowledge 
  • are committed to the role and able to work individually and as part of a team
  • have good problem solving, customer service and communication skills

A recognised City & Guilds or NVQ 2 qualification in an engineering/building discipline, or a related subject would be an advantage but not a necessity.

The Workshop Team are a part of the Department of Campus Infrastructure, which is responsible for the development, upkeep and management of all the University’s buildings and their upkeep is a vital part of the University of Bath’s reputation for exceptional student experience.

You will be required to drive University vehicles as part of your normal duties, and therefore holding a valid driving licence is essential. 

This role is offered on a full time (36.5 hours per week) permanent basis. Hours of working will fall between 08:00 and 18:00, to be worked flexibly as required by operational needs, Monday to Friday.
