Job Description

Costain is working closely with Severn Trent Water on their Capital Delivery Framework, as part of it’s capital programme for AMP8. As part of the Design and Build Framework lot, Costain brings together its design, construction, and consultancy expertise to undertake renewal and refurbishment projects and will assist Severn Trent in its target to make continuous improvements to its safety performance, whilst ensuring continuity of supply and consequently lowering costs for its customers.

This role will be hybrid based at Gloucestershire

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all activities are appropriately and managed to ensure safe operations .
  • Supervise, train and mentor the site team to enable them to optimize their work contribution.
  • Prepare presentations to provide reporting and updates to the Client and the Senior Leadership Team
  • Attend progress meetings with the Client and Contractors to manage the works and progress, including chair meeting and minute taking.
  • Review contractual agreements and develop working methods, RAMS, and programme
  • Develop programmes and forecast budgets, assess actual programme and productivity achieved and review weekly, taking action where appropriate, and reporting any changes to the Project Manager and Commercial department.
  • Provide input into the programme to ensure the appropriate specialists provide the level of resources with the necessary skills so as not to impede the construction programme.
  • Communicate with the site team and the commercial team’s issues of non-conformance and contractual correspondence. Ensure that comprehensive records of resources employed on additional works are maintained.
  • Ensure that inspection and test plans, risk assessments and method statements for the control of the works are reviewed, approved and adhered to.
  • Supervising responsibility for site teams; liaison with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage pre-construction activities, ensuring company and client governances is followed at all times
  • Work closely with the delivery team to overcome constructability issues at the earliest opportunity

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Understanding of Engineering Principles
  • Knowledge and understanding of construction contract law and forms of contract through experience and formal training.
  • Extensive technical knowledge of construction techniques and best practices.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent in a Civil Engineering allied subject or HND in Civil Engineering and vocational training in Engineering
  • Relevant CSCS Card
  • Training in Health & Safety and Environmental management

Desirable

  • Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent HND/ HNC
  • MICE
  • MAPM
  • Vocational Training (successful experience of project management)
