We currently have an exciting opportunity for a forward-thinking, proactive, and highly motivated Pharmacy Technician who would like to develop their management skills for two days a week (Mondays and Thursdays) to cover a flexible working request by the current post holder.

The successful candidate will work in the dispensary and have an Accuracy Checking Technician qualification.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will

 Lead the efficient day-to-day operation of the dispensary services for inpatients and Outpatients of the Trust and other customers.

To plan and manage the pharmacy workflow relating to the Elective Centre (Ashford) and Dispensary Services at St Peter’s Hospital. 

 Ensure dispensed items are processed in a timely and accurate manner.

Work with the Lead Technician across the site to ensure the smooth management of the dispensary service and associated staff, and cover in each other’s absence.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

 Provide line management and leadership for Pharmacy  Technicians, Assistants,

  trainees, and work experience students.

  Manage day-to-day dispensary activities and participate in all  aspects of dispensing, ensuring workflow patterns are organised to minimise the potential for dispensing

     errors and

      that targets and turnaround times are met.

   Organise and prioritise work so that all prescriptions are completed

      on time in respect of urgency and transport/porter

      deadline

   Monitoring of internal and external errors and advise on

      Improvements in working practice will result in a reduction in error

     rates.

   Management of stock control in the dispensary and investigate

      stock errors.

            Support the efficient day-to-day operation of medicines       optimisation services to all wards and departments served by

           the Pharmacy enabling the continuous supply of medication during

            patients’ admission, facilitating a smooth discharge

   Support the training of pre-reg pharmacists, pharmacy

            technicians, and ptpt’s regarding medicines management policies

            in the Trust.

       Contribute to the development of pharmacy services and to

            promote the highest of standards of professional practice, whilst

            always observing the “statement on professional Conduct” issued

            by the GPhC.
