Catering Assistant – Booker Distribution

This is an exciting new position within the recently opened canteen at Booker Distribution Fareham. We are looking for a motivated and reliable individual to join our catering team and help deliver a high-quality food service to our colleagues.

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the full catering and vending operation within the canteen. This includes ordering stock for food preparation and vending machines, supporting stock management and control, and carrying out code and quality checks to ensure compliance with standards. You will prepare food in line with food hygiene regulations and maintain due diligence on temperature controls and code dates. Additionally, you will replenish and manage vending machines, including price adjustments, cleaning, and cash collection. The role also involves providing hospitality support, assisting with housekeeping across the canteen, kitchen facilities, dining area, and counters, and strictly adhering to food hygiene, HACCP, allergen, and COSHH guidelines at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve a variety of hot and cold meals, snacks, and beverages to staff in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assist with food preparation, ensuring all items meet company standards for quality and presentation.
  • Maintain cleanliness and hygiene throughout the canteen, including food preparation areas, counters, and dining spaces.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Monitor stock levels and assist with replenishment as required.
  • Adhere to all food safety, health, and hygiene regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to colleagues, ensuring a friendly and welcoming environment.
  • Work collaboratively within a small team to ensure smooth daily operations.

About You

  • Previous experience working in a kitchen or catering environment is essential.
  • Knowledge of food hygiene and safety standards.Level 2
  • Allergen awareness 
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently when required.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
  • Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the business.

Shift Hours: 37.5 hrs per week (Monday-Friday)
