About the role

Applications are invited for one or more Chapman Fellowships in Mathematical Finance within the Mathematical Finance Section of the Department of Mathematics, commencing September 2026. These will be for a fixed term of 3 years. The posts provide an excellent opportunity for those seeking to pursue an academic career in Mathematical Finance.

What you would be doing

You will produce independent and original research in Mathematical Finance, interpreted broadly, within the Department of Mathematics, submit publications to leading refereed journals, and help with teaching and administration. You will be expected to undertake a self-directed program of research and scholarship, play a role in the national and international Mathematics community, in addition to teaching students at undergraduate level. You will also take a role in MSc teaching and project supervision, as appropriate.

What we are looking for

  • A track record of research in Mathematical Finance (interpreted broadly) of the highest level.
  • Drive to engage actively with Imperial’s thriving ecosystem of seminars, conferences and other events.
  • Background and motivation for undergraduate teaching and also to teach on one of the leading MSc programmes in the field and to supervise MSc theses, in collaboration with industrial partners, as appropriate.

Positions are available for a fixed duration of 3 years.

*Candidates who have not yet been officially awarded their PhD will be appointed as Research Assistant within the salary range £43,863 – £ £47,223 per annum.
