Clinical Professor/Hon Consultant in Paediatric Dentistry – Strand, London, WC2R 2LS 

About us:

The Centre for Oral, Clinical and Translational Sciences (COCTS) brings together discovery and clinical scientists combining efforts aimed at improving oral and dental health through research and innovation leading to translation. The Centre is in an exciting phase of renewal with significant investment into state-of-the-art interdisciplinary science laboratories and support of translational and clinical research. Members of the centre have international reputations in mineralised tissue research, biomaterials, tissue engineering, device and diagnostic technology development, computer science and AI, and clinical research. Strong educational support is provided to both undergraduate and postgraduate students and we seek to appoint an academic that will strengthen and diversify the capacity of the centre in both research and education.  
 

About the role:

This role offers the opportunity to provide visionary academic and clinical leadership in Paediatric Dentistry, shaping the future of undergraduate and postgraduate education at King’s College London. The post holder will champion internationally leading research that advances the strategic priorities of the Faculty, the College, and King’s Health Partners (KHP), securing funding and developing the next generation of clinical academic leaders. They will inspire innovation in teaching and learning, while forging strong partnerships with the NHS and wider stakeholders to drive research and practice that transforms patient outcomes, strengthens clinical services, and enhances King’s global reputation. As a mentor and role model, they will foster an inclusive, supportive, and ambitious community of colleagues and students, ensuring that Paediatric Dentistry at King’s remains at the forefront of international practice and scholarship. The post holder will help shape the wider academic direction of the faculty through leadership, governance, and strategic contributions at the level expected of a senior clinical academic.
 
This is a full time post (40 per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract
 

About you: 

 
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1.      Full GDC other relevant body registration with valid license to practice
2.      PhD qualified in relevant subject area
3.      Listed GDC Specialist in Paediatric Dentistry or eligible for listing 
4.      Established record in attracting research grants and publishing internationally excellent peer reviewed outputs in Paediatric Dentistry 
5.      Capacity to build & maintain relationships at all levels of organisations & the skills to work effectively. 
6.      Ability to deliver high quality teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels within their specialist area
7.      Ability to successfully supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral level students to completion
8.      Evidence of providing clinical leadership and contributing to the strategic ambitions/directions of a clinical service
9.      Evidence of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstratable commitment to improving quality of care to patients 
 

 
Desirable criteria
1.       Fellow (or higher) of the Higher Education Academy (or equivalent) or eligible for membership 
2.       Organised and systematic approach to work on multiple areas of commitment 
3.       Experience of curriculum or module development and awareness of different approaches for delivery of curricula. 
4.       Experience of managing multiple and demanding stakeholders whilst working to deadlines 
5.       Effective performance of academic administrative duties, e.g. examinations, admissions and delivering student feedback 
6.       Substantive esteem indicators such as routinely invited to speak at international meetings, chair and organiser of national/international meetings, chairing and serving on professional and scientific grant committees and Editorial Boards
