About the role
You’ll work across multiple sites taking ownership of controls and automation within the region, ensuring our automation systems are reliable, secure, and optimised for performance. Your time will be split between implementing new technology, supporting day-to-day troubleshooting, and working on longer-term projects to improve efficiency and reliability. You’ll also play a key role in training and supporting engineering teams, making sure we get the best out of our systems

You’ll already have experience as a Controls Engineer in a manufacturing environment (ideally food or FMCG) and be ready to take the lead in supporting multiple sites. You’ll also:
- Be confident working with Siemens S7 PLCs and ideally familiar with other platforms (Mitsubishi, SEW, Allen Bradley)
- Have experience with SCADA development, preferably Ignition SCADA
- Understand networks, servers, and databases as part of modern control system infrastructure
- Be able to troubleshoot problems effectively and get to the root cause quickly
- Have strong communication skills, able to work with engineers, managers, and other stakeholders across regions
- Be willing to travel extensively within the region (from Scotland to Manchester, with potential for further travel if required) and undertake frequent overnight stays
- Enjoy being part of a team, supportive of an inclusive culture where difference is valued
Desirable:
- Experience delivering automation projects in FMCG with shelf-life considerations
- Confident in managing 3rd party contractors and developing relationships with Stakeholders at all levels
- Familiarity with condition based monitoring systems
