Overview

Conventional Safety Lead – Bridgwater, UK

About the Role

Ready to help shape the safety culture of one of Europe’s largest infrastructure projects? Keen to apply your expertise in a high-risk, high-impact environment where your insights drive real change? At EDF, Success is Personal – and with us, your career journey is yours to shape.

The Opportunity

As our Conventional Safety Lead, you’ll play a vital role in protecting the health and safety of thousands of workers and the public at Hinkley Point C – the UK’s first nuclear new build in a generation. You’ll be part of a team that ensures legal compliance and supports our construction partners, helping Britain achieve net zero.

You’ll join us on a salary starting from £65,000 per annum, with the potential for an annual bonus. This is a hybrid role, based at our #HinkleyPointC site, with 2 – 3 days a week on site.

From leading investigations and audits to supporting contractor evaluations and maintaining integrated management systems, you’ll be at the heart of a project that’s shaping the UK’s energy future. You’ll work alongside experts, contribute to forums like CARG and MSGG, and help drive innovation and best practice across the site.

Who You Are

We’re looking for a Conventional Safety Lead who thrives in complex, high-risk environments and brings a meticulous, analytical mindset. Do you offer…

  • 10+ years’ industrial experience in fast-paced project settings
  • Proven experience in major infrastructure or energy projects
  • Strong skills in analysing safety data and identifying trends
  • Experience leading investigations and assigning corrective actions
  • Confidence in presenting insights to senior stakeholders
  • Experience in audit planning and execution
  • Familiarity with forums such as CARG and MSGG
  • Expertise in maintaining integrated management systems
  • Experience supporting contractor evaluations and scoring submissions

To be appointed to this role, you will need to meet the criteria for Security Vetting, which will, ordinarily, require you to have been a resident of the UK for at least three of the past five years.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Ensuring compliance with Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015
  • Supporting health and safety management systems and standards
  • Leading audits, reviews and assessments to identify best practice
  • Reporting on health and safety status across the project
  • Supporting incident investigations and corrective actions

Pay, Benefits and Culture

Alongside a starting salary of at least £65,000 per annum, potential for an annual bonus, and a market-leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.
