Job Title: Deputy Head of Apprenticeships
Salary: Commencing at £43,492 with progression to £46,133 per annum
About the Role
What You Will Do
- Provide comprehensive support to the Group Head of Apprenticeship Services across all areas of college leadership and management, with a strong focus on quality, teaching, learning, and assessment to ensure outstanding outcomes for learners.
- Oversee the effective delivery of all courses within the department, ensuring compliance with awarding body standards, funding requirements, and quality assurance frameworks.
- Ensure financial targets are achieved to maximise income generation and value for the department.
- Lead a defined area of provision, ensuring the curriculum aligns with local and national priorities, adapts to demand and funding changes, and delivers outstanding student outcomes.
- Champion a culture of ‘Leading Learning’ across the College, conducting regular staff observations—including developmental, walk-throughs, and contributing to cross-college processes as needed.
- Inspire and motivate learners to achieve, develop essential skills and behaviours, and progress confidently in their chosen paths.
- Ensure the delivery of high-quality advice, guidance, induction, and skill development for all learners.
- Strive for apprenticeship retention, achievement, success, and progression rates that consistently exceed national averages year-on-year.
About You
- Hold a Level 3 (or above) qualification in leadership and management, along with Level 2 (or above) in English and Maths.
- Demonstrated experience in engaging with employers, delivering effective apprenticeship programmes, and successfully tracking and monitoring apprentices to ensure timely completion, with a strong background in leadership and management within an apprenticeship environment.
- Experience in managing budgets, forecasting costs, ensuring financial compliance, and overseeing high-quality apprenticeship delivery in line with quality assurance frameworks.
- Knowledge of apprenticeship funding, including submitting and managing funding reports within a dedicated funding team or role.
- A motivational leader and coach, fostering a collaborative high-performing environment while effectively influencing, challenging, and supporting colleagues across the organisation.
