Salary: £27,305 – £31,501

Work hours: Occasional Weekends and or Evening, Full Time

Job Description

ABOUT THE ROLE
 
Working alongside Senior Technicians and Academics, the successful candidate will have the ability to support our students , staff and researchers in both pattern cutting and garment construction. 
 
A strong working knowledge of the associated skill, techniques and processes (both practice based and digital) will be required along with the ability to deliver inductions and training to users within these environments, as well as the appropriate and safe operation of specialist equipment within these workshops and  facilities and where necessary provide feedback  to both students and staff (oral or written)
 
Working to the highest of standards, engaging with and understanding the Health and Safety at work requirements (including Risk assessment, SOPs and audits) and ensuring compliance within the local environment.
 
The ability to plan and organise your own workload, helping to meet agreed objectives, while making sound decisions appropriate to the local environment and where necessary escalating any issues. 
 
Working alongside and supporting the team in the development of specialist facilities , processes and service improvements relevant to industry standards and advancements while ensure your own knowledge and skills remain current and up to date.

ABOUT THE TEAM 
 
Based within our Fashion Department in the School of Design the successful candidate will be working within one of the largest specialist technical teams at the University.
Working along side colleagues to deliver innovative , creative practice across a number of design disciplines associated with the school, helping our students, researchers and associated stakeholders to meet their creative goals.   
 
ABOUT YOU
 
The successful candidate will hold a relevant degree or display an appropriate level of industry experience.
 
Display a working knowledge of the equipment and processes associated with pattern cutting and garment construction as well as the ability to communicate and demonstrate these skills to others.
 
Have a familiarity of associated Health and Safety requirements within a fashion workshop environment.
 
Demonstrate the ability to plan and prioritise your own workload, responding to managers or works requirements.
 
Working within in a team, supporting the educational, research and multi-disciplinary needs of the course, school and university at large.
