Financial Accountant – Halifax; Home Based

In this role, you’ll be working in a team where we manage the core financial accounting for the Covéa Insurance companies in the UK, delivering financial control, reporting and support to the business on time, every time.
This is a hybrid position, combining the best of both worlds – working from home and spending time in our Halifax office.

Where will I make an impact?
- Take proactive ownership of several accounting and reporting processes, reporting into the Senior Finance Manager.
- Managing month-end activities, including journal entries and associated balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring that any outstanding items are investigated and cleared as appropriate.
- Understanding and analysing the drivers of performance on a monthly basis, coordinating with the Actuaries, Finance Business Partners and other areas of the business to explain variances.
- Supporting the preparation of the year-end financial accounts and other quarterly and annual submissions, such as, Solvency II templates, ONS and other relevant regulatory financial information and related schedules for assigned companies.
- Providing support to ensure a clean year-end audit, liaising with external auditors, delivering information requests/data as required.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships across the business and with external stakeholders.
- Maintain and enhance documentation of financial reporting processes to ensure clarity and compliance.
What will help you stand out?
- Demonstrable experience and/or qualifications in finance, with experience in Insurance preferrable
- Ability to work autonomously and to tight deadlines.
- Strong organisational, time management and problem-solving skills.
- A proactive, self-starting approach to work and able to work to own initiative.
- Strong analytical skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- An excellent communicator, comfortable liaising with executive-level employees.
- Good commercial awareness and purpose of Finance function in the business.
- Able to work effectively in a team environment.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word and Powerpoint.
- Ideally Part-Qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) and/or fully qualified in AAT.

Up to £37,500 (Dependent on Experience)
