The role
This is a teaching role – but with purpose. As a Freelance Essential Skills Numeracy Tutor, you’ll help young people achieve maths qualifications that unlock jobs, training and further study. Your lessons will be more than numbers on a page – they’ll be about building confidence and futures.
You’ll:
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned to the Essential Skills Numeracy curriculum.
- Deliver accredited qualifications and support learners through assessment.
- Build strong learner relationships and adapt delivery to diverse needs.
- Maintain accurate records, safeguarding and compliance standards.
- Support positive progression into work, training or education.
The person
Let me ask you:
- Do you hold a degree where Mathematics makes up at least 50% of your studies (Maths, Engineering, Physics, Economics etc.)?
- Do you have GCSE (A-C) or equivalent in English and Maths (or Level 2 Essential Skills in Communication and Numeracy)?
- Do you have a recognised teaching qualification in line with ES Circular 01/12?
- Have you delivered Essential Skills Numeracy / Application of Number before?
- Are you motivated to make maths meaningful and confidence-building for learners?
