Introducing Amplify U 

Amplify U is our Early Talent Programme at Universal Music Group UK. It helps build a sustainable and inclusive talent pipeline by equipping emerging professionals with real-world experience, industry insight and the skills to forge a career in music. 

 

Our Internship Overview 

The Amplify U Internship is a structured, 12-month paid programme open to individuals aged 18 and over who demonstrate a strong interest in a career in the music industry. Interns are placed within specific departments and will gain meaningful, hands-on experience while developing professionally and personally through curated development sessions, projects and network-building opportunities. 

 

The Role 

As an Amplify U Intern, you’ll contribute to live business initiatives, learn directly from industry professionals and grow through tailored development. You’ll be immersed in the day-to-day of your department, gaining valuable skills and making a tangible impact.

What you’ll learn: 

 

Be Collaborative   

  • Working closely with the Senior Video & Content commissioner, marketing & digital teams regularly communicating key information to internal partners to keep the campaign moving   

  • Forging strong working relationships with internal & external teams across the business to execute aspects of the visual campaign   

  • Suggesting new talent and ideas for individual campaigns   

  • Be Administrative   

  • Work with Video Admin to ensure all new videos are logged in CI Catalogue and serviced to the project team and third parties   

  • Sending out Video Submission Forms to production companies.  

  • A willingness to collaborate and learn new creatives, platforms and techniques to execute success campaigns  

 

Be Administrative  

  • Helping to organise shoots   

  •  Ensuring production companies and freelancers get paid for work   

  •  Helping to push through contract approvals    

  •  Budgeting in Uniport; including approving quotes, raising POs etc   

  •  Booking studios   

  •  Arranging travel through CLM   

  • Booking cabs/couriers   

  •  Answering calls for team if not at desk Be Culturally Curious

  •  A willingness to attend events where needed to be immersed within the ever-evolving landscape of the cultures we serve Personal Specification   

 

Learning & Development 

Throughout your internship, you will benefit from: 

  • A dedicated onboarding experience, including UMG UK immersion and coaching 

  • A Lumina Spark strengths profile and one-to-one coaching session 

  • Quarterly soft skills workshops (e.g. presenting, time management) 

  • Networking sessions with professionals across UMG UK 

  • Intern shadowing days and unique industry experiences 

  • Ongoing check-ins and final internship review with career planning support 

 

Who you are: 

  • Passionate about music and music video content, with a positive and enthusiastic attitude   

  • Desire to pursue a career within the creative fields of a label, previous experience highly advantageous   

  • Proven experience of working effectively and efficiently under pressure in a calm and organised manner   

  • Knowledge of the UK music landscape & new talent within it  

  •  Professional, proactive and flexible approach to work – ability to prioritise, multi-task & pre-empt problems before they occur   

  • Excellent track record of working to strict deadlines & maintaining a high standard of attention to detail   

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to deal with people at all levels   

  •  Strong problem-solving skills   

  •  Proven ability to build and maintain good relationships both internally and externally   

  • Team player able to work on own initiative   

  • Ability to deal with situations discreetly & confidentially   

  • Able to demonstrate a tactful and diplomatic approach   

  • Experience in using in house computer systems and packages including Excel, Word and Outlook
