The post will be embedded within the Systems Cancer Immunology group and haemato-oncology at GSTT which is dedicated to advancing our understanding of cancer immunology through translational research and clinical collaboration. Our team works at the interface of laboratory science and patient care, with a strong focus on developing novel immunotherapeutic strategies and improving outcomes for patients through clinical trials and biomarker-driven research.
About The Role
We are seeking a highly motivated Junior Clinical Research Fellow to join our team for a one-year fixed-term appointment, working at the interface of clinical trials and translational cancer immunology research. This unique role offers a 50:50 split between clinical and laboratory responsibilities, providing an excellent opportunity for a medically qualified individual to gain experience in both patient-facing research and wet lab science.
The postholder will be responsible for recruiting patients into clinical trials and research studies, conducting outpatient visits, and supporting trial-related documentation and compliance. They will work closely with clinical teams to identify eligible participants and ensure high-quality engagement with trial protocols.
In parallel, the fellow will contribute to translational research activities in the laboratory, processing patient-derived samples and performing immunological and molecular assays. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary research team focused on understanding cancer immunology and developing novel therapeutic approaches.
The Junior Clinical Research Fellow will report to Professor Shahram Kordasti, Professor of Systems Cancer Immunology, and will work collaboratively with clinical and research staff across the department. This role is ideal for candidates interested in pursuing a career in academic medicine, speciality training, clinical research, or translational science.
This is a full time post (40 hours per week), and you will be offered an a fixed term contract until 30/09/2026.
