Faculty/Directorate
The Faculty of Health and Life sciences (HLS) is a large Faculty that offers education across a number of health and social care courses. Home to four specialist schools – Leicester School of Allied Health Sciences, Applied Social Sciences, Nursing, Midwifery and paramedicine, and Leicester School of Pharmacy. The faculty educates and develops professionals who make a significant difference to lives, health, wellbeing, communities and society. The faculty is investing significantly in a purpose built optometry suites alongside existing clinical spaces and equipment dedicated to optometry.
Role
You will be instrumental in the new Master of Optometry programme. You will be working closely with wider internal and external stakeholders such as General Optical Council (GOC), College of Optometrists and industry. You will be expected to deliver an outstanding teaching and assessment, support and enhance student learning and experience with a view to ensuring outstanding student satisfaction. You will be working as part of a team and have an opportunity to contribute to the research of the school.
Ideal candidate
- Essential qualifications and experience: A degree in Optometry and An Optometrist registered with the General Optical Council (GOC). Experience of practice in optometry and supervision of practice educators and/or students in the workplace. Experience of working in partnership with healthcare organisations.
- Desirable qualifications: A Master degree or a PhD or equivalent in a cognate discipline. A teaching qualification and/or a Clinical Education qualification.
- Personal effectiveness: Well-developed team-working skills with excellent interpersonal skills.
