About the role:

What you would be doing:

The Operations Assistant provides vital administrative and operational support to the Department, helping to ensure its day-to-day activities run smoothly. You will play a key role in supporting colleagues and responding to a wide range of staff and student enquiries in a timely and professional manner.

Your responsibilities will include a variety of administrative and operational tasks, such as processing purchases and expenses, arranging travel, organising committee meetings and events, supporting recruitment and Human Resources processes, and undertaking a range of other ad hoc duties as required.

What we are looking for:

You will report directly to the Executive Assistant (EA), providing support with both planned and ad hoc projects while carrying out a wide range of administrative tasks. Working in a fast-paced environment, you will be expected to take a proactive and flexible approach, manage competing priorities effectively, and contribute to the department’s overall objectives by delivering an excellent service to our staff.

The role involves daily interaction with a wide range of colleagues, academics, professional services staff, and external contacts. As such, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to build positive working relationships with people at all levels.

About the department

The Centre for Environmental Policy, which will shortly celebrate 50 years at the forefront of Global Environmental Policy Research, is a unique interdisciplinary Department in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College conducting policy-focused fundamental and applied research to solve environmental and sustainability issues. CEP’s research activities are closely integrated with not only the Faculties of Natural Sciences, but also Engineering and Medicine along with the Business School and with Imperial’s Global Challenge Institutes.

Further Information

This is a full- time, 12- month fixed term role, based at the South Kensington campus. We require staff to be in the office a minimum of three days a week.
