Job Description
Due to being awarded the Major Programme Partner (MPP) and the Asset Renewal Partner, Costain have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager in order to support the successful delivery of the baggage handling facility within Terminal 2 under the Heathrow H7 framework, working within a constrained, highly sequenced programme.
Costain is the Major Programme Partner (MPP) and the Asset Renewal Partner (ARP) for Terminals 1 and 2, two of six major programmes of work that Heathrow has committed to deliver within the H7 quinquennium.
Within the MPP framework, Costain is the Principal Contractor and Principal Designer for the T2 Baggage Programme (T2BP), which is a £700m+ complex baggage and infrastructure programme.
This consists of principally two elements: extending the life of, protecting and providing alternative facilities for the existing Terminal 2 baggage operation currently run from Terminal 1; and designing, constructing, testing and bringing into use a new Terminal 2A baggage system.
The role is to manage a team of engineers and sub-contractors to delivery a large area of the T2 Baggage Upgrade programme in delivery. You will be planning, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of multiple packages including civils, M&E and fit out within a live airport environment, ensuring works are completed safely, to programme, and in accordance with technical and quality standards.

- Package Managing NEC4 sub-contractors Option A and E
- Delivering a complex area programme with multiple constraints in the airport environment.
- Managing permanent and temporary works design to get them to site.
- Approving RAMS.
- Ensuring Costain processes are followed and monitoring in respect to safety, quality, temporary works and commercial.
- Managing a delivery team and developing your team.
- Identify skill requirements and work with relevant resource owners and deploy resources as project progresses through its stages.
- Co-ordinating the activities of the team by establishing the appropriate communication mechanisms, including meeting and reporting requirements
- Determine stakeholder interests, requirements and levels of influence, and actively manage communications and stakeholder engagement to support the successful project delivery and inform decision making.
- Cascade vision and translate into delivery objectives and work packages for the team.
- Develop and monitor cost and schedule baseline (budgets, management reserve, undistributed budget, network schedules, and scope changes) for projects
- Conduct effective Risk Management, ensuring that risks are recorded, managed and tracked ensuring all the risks with wider implications are escalated.
- Provide key reports and ensure effective governance, decision making and timely escalation of issues and early warning signs.
- Manage contractual requirements and payment milestones with clients and suppliers
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
Essential
- NEC4 knowledge / understanding
- Airport experience
- History of RAMS approvals
- Large subcontract package management
- Proven track record of complex programme management
- Ability to sue different platforms
- An organised individual that can work well to deadlines
- Building and maintaining positive working relationships with the client
- Someone that enjoys challenges and problem solving in their day-to-day work and working in teams
- Suitable relevant project experience within engineering/ construction projects, including the application of project management processes
- Proven track record and experience in the industry

- Degree level qualification or equivalent
