About the role
Are you passionate about generating evidence that can directly inform international public health policy?
The Department of Metabolism, Digestion and Reproduction at Imperial College London is seeking an outstanding Research Associate to join a high-profile collaborative project, funded by MDR, working under the World Health Organization (WHO) and the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL). This project will deliver a comprehensive evidence synthesis of the burden of steatotic liver disease across the WHO European Region, providing a critical evidence base to inform future WHO and EASL policy, clinical guidance, and public health action.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with leading researchers and international collaborators while contributing to a WHO technical report, peer-reviewed publication and conference presentations.
What you would be doing
You will lead a comprehensive review and evidence synthesis on the burden of steatostic liver disease in the WHO Europe Region. This will include designing and conducting literature search, screening studies, extracting and synthesising data, and preparing scientific reports and manuscripts. You will also conduct epidemiological studies using large datasets.
You will work closely with investigators at Imperial College London and collaborate with experts from WHO and EASL. The successful candidate will also organise project meetings, contribute to publications, and present findings at national and international conferences.
You will be working closely with WHO NCD’s office.
What we are looking for
Essential criteria include: (1) hold, or be close to completion of, a PhD in Epidemiology, Public Health, Medicine, Health Sciences, Health Policy, or another relevant discipline, (2) strong understanding of epidemiological methods and disease burden research, (3) experience conducting systematic reviews and epidemiological studies, (4) strong data analysis skills, (5) excellent scientific writing, communication and organisational skills, and (6) ability to work independently while contributing effectively within an international collaborative team.
Desirable experience includes: (1) research experience in steatostic liver disease, hepatology, metabolic diseases, or other chronic disease, (2) familiar with PRISMA guidelines and systematic review software.
