About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Teaching Fellow in Engineering Education to join our department. This fixed-term position focusses on delivering high-quality, research-informed teaching and contributing to the advancement of engineering education within our undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate taught (PgT) programmes. 
 
Teaching and Curriculum Development:
 
Design, deliver and assess engaging content via lectures, workshops and project-based learning activities, ensuring alignment with industry practices, research and innovative education with responsibilities in the following modules:
  • Design (Years 1): support module leads in delivering CAD, Arduino programming and prototyping makerspace workshops, and supporting coursework marking
  • Energy & Thermofluids (Year 1): support lab activities and marking in fluid dynamics and soldering for PCBs 
  • Flight Design (Year 4): co-lead the delivery and assessment of the new flight & aerodynamic design, including the development of its practical activities for the manufacturing of fixed-wing drones, and supporting coursework marking
  • Engineering Group Project (Year 4): support the delivery and assessment of the capstone group projects, including running cohort level workshops on sustainability, systems thinking and project management, and supporting marking of individual reports
Educational Development:
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of student experience through evidence-based teaching practice and innovation
  • Take part in activities to capture student voice and to work with student representatives on improvement activities 
Outreach and Community Engagement:
  • Represent the department at public events, such as open days, and contribute to widening participation efforts
Collaborative and Administrative Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with academic, technical and professional service staff to ensure effective module delivery
  • Support administrative processes related to teaching and assessment

This is a 50% part-time post (20 hours per week), and you will be offered a fixed term contract until August 31, 2026.
