About the role

The Finance Team in Cambridgeshire is well regarded and is a key support service that helps the smooth running of the Council and ensures value for money for local taxpayers. All council services have support provided by the Finance Team, and we therefore sit at the heart of decision making and supporting frontline staff.

This post will be working within Adult Social Care and Public Health finance group to provide financial support and challenge to the council’s adult social care services across the whole financial cycle. There has never been a more exciting time to work in social care finance, and this is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic and inquisitive professional.

We work on a hybrid basis at Cambridgeshire, with teams coming into the office together two days per week, with the option to be home or office based for the rest of the week. Re-location support can be provided to eligible people who move to the local area for this role.

Interviews are expected to take place on Thursday 23 May.

About you

We are looking to appoint a committed and self-motivated finance professional to enable the finance team to continue to provide comprehensive financial support to council services and to empower budget managers and other finance business partners.

You will be a fully qualified accountant, or a part-qualified accountant / qualified accounting technician with experience of management accounts, budget setting and financial reporting. You should have a track record of undertaking complex financial analysis and providing challenge to information provided by others, and be able to communicate information in an understandable manner.

We are committed to professional development for all of our staff in the finance team, so don’t be worried if you don’t have direct local government experience, or aren’t experienced in these services. This is an excellent opportunity for a finance professional who wants to be at the heart of financial decision making in a complex local authority.
