As Resident Medical Officer, you’ll play a crucial role providing on call cover for our brand new hospital opening Summer 2024, Cygnet Kenney House. This role is due to start in September 2024. 

The RMO is the Doctor onsite covering on calls between 5pm and 9am on weekdays and 9am -9am weekend shifts. Generally the RMO will work on a rota of 4 days on / 3 days off every week.

Kenney House is going to be a 40 bedded unit in Oldham, primarily we are opening 2 of the 3 wards – the PICU and the Acute services, the 3rd will open later – Rehab Services. All 3 wards will be for Adult females. The service is being designed in line with the Standards of excellence set out by the Royal College of Psychiatry and we will be striving for accreditation through their review process.

We are looking for someone who is… 

  • Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
  • An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgement, the ability to manage risk & know when to ask for help   
  • Preferably experienced in Psychiatry
  • Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
  • Committed to continued professional development
